Artist Statement

Painting has been a lifelong dream for me. When I was a kid (~9 years old), I remembered that I was captivated by a 5-second scene in a movie—an artist painting in a paddy field, capturing a fleeting moment on canvas. That image stayed with me, but life took me in different directions.

In 2024, after moving to Calgary on my own, I found myself navigating the challenges of starting fresh in a new country. In the midst of that transition, I signed up for an art class at Wildflower Art Centre, hoping to reconnect with a long-held passion. That decision changed everything. Painting became more than just a creative outlet; it became a way to ground myself, to process the experience of change, and to express the beauty of moments that might otherwise slip away.

Now, I explore different mediums—acrylic, oil, and watercolor—seeking to capture the emotions and stories behind each scene I paint. My work is a reflection of my journey, a bridge between past and present, and an invitation to pause and appreciate the world through my eyes.
